Brian Thornton

About Brian

Brian is the Principal Solicitor of Cragg Braye & Thornton and in 2024 will celebrate 40 years experience as a legal practitioner. Brian is also a Notary Public. Before Cragg Braye & Thornton, Brian began his legal career as a clerk for Reed, Hannigan & Turner before being admitted to the Supreme Court in 1984.

What he does

Brian primarily practices in the areas of Conveyancing, Family Law, Criminal Law, Litigation and Commercial Law. Brian acts for a variety of clients including individuals, small and large business owners, trustees and companies.

Brian represents clients in family law disputes including divorce, property settlements and matters involving children. He regularly appears in the Federal Court and Family Court for family matters.

Brian also has vast experience in the civil and criminal Courts and Tribunals. He has experience across all disputes ranging from crime, employment, debt recovery, negligence, insurance, personal injury, disputed estates, tenancy and property.

When he’s not at Cragg Braye & Thornton

Brian is a licensed pilot and has performed numerous missions for a charity over the years. When he isn’t up in the air, this foodie can be spotted at one of the Hunter’s many restaurants and vineyards.

Cynthia has acted as an in-house accounts manager for many local businesses.

Cynthia Codrington

What she does

Cynthia is Cragg Braye & Thornton’s accounts admin manager. She also assists with some commercial law matters, including debt recovery.

When she’s not at Cragg Braye & Thornton

Cynthia often speeds past us on her way to respond to bushfires as a crew leader of the Whittingham Rural Fire Service brigade. Outside of fire season, Cynthia is often travelling with her husband around Australia.

Danielle de Castro

About Danielle

Danielle is a Brazilian lawyer who graduated in 2002 and passed the Brazilian Bar exam. Danielle has practiced law in Brazil for over 10 years with an expertise in civil litigation contracts and corporate legal risk mitigation.

Before Cragg Braye & Thornton

Danielle practiced law in Brazil as an Attorney General, drafting legislation, opinion letters on public law, analysing public bidding procedures, participating on public hearings with the local house of representatives. Later Danielle became a legal consultant and advised government agencies on legal administrative issues. Then Danielle opened a Law Firm she negotiated high-level commercial contract terms and conditions and managed a team of experienced civil litigation attorneys and acted for large organisations.


What she does

Danielle assists the Principal Solicitor in criminal, estate, family law, conveyancing and commercial matters, liaising with clients, preparing draft documents and attending to research.

When she’s not at Cragg Braye & Thornton

Danielle loves spending time with her son and her partner, going out and trying new restaurants and foods, traveling, gathering with friends and in the middle of it all finding some time to finish her Diploma in Law studies through LPAB / University of Sydney.

  • Brazilian qualified lawyer;
  • MBA in International Relations.
